Carmel-Coated Grace (excerpt)

She cannot sing
or strum six strings
or savor life’s secrets
to save her life
(studious as she is)
but God can she dance.

The 60 holds picket signs
protesting my pilgrimage
to the small cowboy town
where I find carmel-coated grace—
Hallelujah Hallelu.
