Moon Envy

stumbling home
drunk
I stopped
to lay
in some
stranger’s driveway
looking up
at the
stranger’s moon

I’d like to
have a
moon like that
someday

 

I’m Somewhat Shocked by Clouds

the moon
lingered over
the dogwood tree
at the far end
of the field
where the cattle go
for water
and where we found
last year
the coyote skull
hair still
clinging to
the empty pits
its eyes
had become
